Promo Landing Pages vs Homepages: How to Compare Value

A promotional landing page may emphasize an offer while the homepage emphasizes browsing. Neither route is inherently better value. Compare the terms and final checkout for your account rather than assuming a special-looking page contains a cheaper deal.

Run a no-purchase comparison

  1. Open the official homepage from a known address. Separately record the landing-page URL and the source that sent you there, including any affiliate disclosure.
  2. On each route, note currency, package size, displayed price, eligible account type, and any code required. Keep account and country conditions consistent.
  3. Read the linked offer terms. Check new-customer restrictions, expiry, excluded uses, and whether the reward is spendable credit or a different type of benefit.
  4. If you proceed as far as checkout, compare the total payable and the actual eligible units. Do not complete a purchase just to finish the comparison.

When the routes disagree

A different display may reflect account eligibility, currency, a missing code, or a changed campaign. Those are possibilities to investigate, not a diagnosis. Save the relevant wording and ask official support which terms would govern your purchase.

If the landing page redirects to an unexpected domain or asks for credentials you cannot verify, close it and return through the official homepage. Visual similarity and a padlock alone do not establish that the destination is the one you intended.

EFF's tool-selection advice emphasizes transparency and limitations. Applied here, a plain page with clear conditions is more useful than an exciting banner whose supposed savings cannot be reconciled with checkout.
