How to Pick Between Token and Credits Models
The words token and credit do not identify a standard pricing model. Either can represent a prepaid unit used under platform-specific rules. Compare what you pay, what you can use, and how charging works rather than assuming one label is cheaper or safer.
Normalize the two offers
- Record each package's final price and currency. Keep any issuer currency-conversion costs separate until known.
- Record units usable for the same intended activity. Separate paid units from restricted or expiring bonuses.
- Divide price by usable units to obtain your effective unit cost.
- Translate the intended activity's unit charge into money. For a timed mode, include rate, minimum duration, and billing increment; for a fixed purchase, verify the entire required unit amount.
Compare the operating rules
Check whether checkout is prepaid, whether automatic replenishment exists, whether there is a recurring membership, and whether unused balances expire or can be refunded. These are separate questions: a platform can use prepaid units and also offer an optional recurring product.
Look for easy balance visibility and understandable confirmations. Do not assume credits correspond directly to dollars, or that tokens bought on one platform can move to another. If a mode changes its rate by performer or option, compare the exact room and mode you intend to use.
